I understand that JPEG XL is now used for compression, can someone confirm this is Lossless for Panorama.
Thanks, I found another thread where the Adobe Expert clearly states that Panorama DNGs from Lightroom are now using JPEG XL with Lossy compression.
Whether it makes a difference is another question.
Maybe JPEG XL is much more tolerant of the edit-resave cycle of degredation and increased noise.

Yes this applies to all derived DNGs (Panorama Merge, HDR Merge, Denoise) as far as I can see. If you look at the file sizes alone from any of these processes, they are way smaller than previously. Using a metadata filter with File Type confirms this in any case - it shows as Lossy Compressed. Whether it makes any difference or not is the big question. I can see no difference between the initial results but maybe with further editing?

Actually I need to correct that. DNGs produced by Denoise still show as Lossless with the Metadate File Type filter although the file sizes are way smaller than before. Draw your own conclusions.
