A few days ago I deleted all my synced photographs in my lightroom classic app on my mac. I did this to try and stop the crazy syncing that was going on after I created a "collection" instead of a "folder" for new photos. After that action, 71,000 photos went into that collection. I waited for them all to finish, then I deleted the collection. Then the wild syncing started that took 2 1/2 days. Anyway after speaking with 3 different support techs at Adobe, the last one used one of my backup catalogs to run the application. All of the photos in the collections were there. Then she deleted files in my cloud account that were corrupted. She then rebuild by synced data and the syncing started again and she said that everything was now good. Well its not. The syncing is still going since after 12 hours and all of my photos are missing from my collection. I am ruinning the latest version of Lightroom Classic. So frustrated.

As far as the unwanted sync of 71,000 in the collection, you can simply turn off the Cloud Sync for that collection, or turn off the cloud sync globally.

As far as the missing photos in the collection ... they should still be in your Lightroom Catalog, under "All Photographs", and in whatever folder they are stored in. Deleting folders from a collection and/or deleting photos from the cloud does not cause photos to be removed from your Lightroom Classic catalog. Please click on "All Photographs" and search for some of these photos by file name or capture date or any other criteria that will help you find them.

Even though all of my photographs are still in the catalog, the collections are missing most of the previously synced pictures. Furthermore LRC is trying to download photographs from Lightroom online and they are stuck. Most of them are raw files that I did not purposely sync. So as of now my sync is turned off and ky catalog is a mess. Nobody at Adobe (6 different support agents) can fix the problem. So thanks for your sugggstion, but the issues still remain.

Do you have backups of your catalog file from before this problem began?
