More problems. Now if I attempt to flag an image in Library or Develop mode, the flag icon does not appear on the thumbnail.

Troubleshooting steps:

1. Do View > View Options and ensure the option Grid View > Cell Icons > Flags is checked.

2. Try resetting LR's preferences:
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.

Genius John! Solved all three of my issues in one fell swoop! I'll try to keep my prefs unsoiled. 🙂

It's nothing you're doing -- it's a longstanding flaw in LR internals:

I have the same issue now. But resetting all preferences cannot truly be the solution!

I am not willing to loose all my settings, presets and what not and start completely from scratch as there is no feature to save and restore prefs.

[EDIT]

I tried the method described here https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/
to reset the prefs by renaming the prefs folder.
Unfortunately this did not fix the issue. So I switch back to my old prefs (good that I kept them...)

[EDIT 2]

Okay now I decided to downgrade back to 12.5 and this solves all the issues for now. 13.x seems to be just too buggy to work with now.
