Pictures disappering during update

New Here ,
Mar 02, 2025 Mar 02, 2025

Hi,

When updating to a new version of Lightroom, my previous catalogs were backed up. However, in the new version, only 18 out of 2500 images are showing. I don’t know how to solve this issue, and I have countless hours of work stored in the old catalog. Do I need to install a previous version, or is there a way to fix this in the new one? I would be very grateful for your help.

Best regards,

Emin Ekström

Do you mean Lightroom Classic?

If so, it has likely chosen the wrong catalog to upgrade. Go to File->Open Recent and try opening each catalog shown there until you find the catalog you want. If that doesn't work, search your hard disk(s) — using Windows Explorer's search function — for all files on all disks whose name ends with .LRCAT, and then open each one of those until you find the catalog you want.

Please describe more detailed what you've done.

Which previous version did you had installed?

Which new Lightroom version do you have installed?

Were you asked to update the catalog after starting the new installed Lightroom for the first time?

Check if you are in the view "All Photographs" and no filter is applied.

Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:
