Problem importing only new photos from the camera

Hi! 
I normally import my photos into Lightroom directly from the camera. Lightroom does however never seem to recognize older photos I've imported already. Even if I click on "new photos" to show up only. 

Any idea how to get around a that would be much appreciated

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.

Sounds wrong, please post a screenshot.

This can happen if you rename the files during or after import and the original files are still on the memory card. To prevent them from showing check 'Don't Import Suspected Duplicates' in the Import module File Handling panel.
