Using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and latest version of LR Classic (12.3 release).  Installed PS Beta to try the new removal option.  Afterward every time I try to "edit in" from LR, it chooses PS Beta instead of PS 2023.  So I uninstalled PS Beta and now LR won't edit in PS at all.  Checked preferences and the box to select PS version is greyed out so nothing can be entered to tell LR to use PS!!!!  😞  I tried using backup catalog from before Beta and still greyed out.  I hope this isn't going to require registry editing but regardless, can anybody out there tell me how to get LR to allow PS 2023 to be in the "Photoshop version" box?

Have you tried:

  1. Uninstall PS 2023
  2. Verify in the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App (CC) that no version of PS shows up as installed.
  3. Check in Windows setup, Apps, check that no PS shows up
  4. Reboot (cold) the computer
  5. Reinstall PS 2023

You might also want to try, perhaps need to accomplish, resetting the preference files for both LrC and PS

Is this issue for the Photoshop Forum or the Lightroom Forum.

@DdeGannes  I think it's a issue for the Lightroom forum.

BTW: I've a similar issue. I installed the PS Beta beside the "normal" PS 24.4.1 and when I use the "Edit in Photoshop...." it opens the beta version. That's okay too.

Now I try to use the new feature since LC 12.3 to select the Photoshop version for edit in Photoshop. Until now it doesn't work. It shows only Adobe Photoshop 2023. Although I have installed  PS 2023 and PS 2023 Beta. I'm affraid of I have done a reinstallation of LR?!

Resetting the LR preferences doesn't help.

At least we had a workaround but it is very clumsy.  I do not want to uninstall PS Beta but would like to edit LRC photos using the regular PS (with my brushes and actions and plugins).  How am I going to do that?  Will Adobe provide a fix or an option to choose one or another?

I have exactly the same issue. I want to play with new feratures in Beta but only want the non-Beta version as my external editor. Preferences are set to Photoshop 2024 but still Beta comes up on "edit in"

The solution is clearly indicated on this page (and about 100 others.)

Not a very satisfactory solution. Every time that Beta or the Main version is updated, not just upgraded, you have to go through an untinsts reinstall of the version you want to keep as the external editor. Surely it js not beyond the wit of Adobe to either allow you to select and restore the link via LR preferences and/or to stop the updated version from hijacking and changing the version set in preferences.

I have opposite problem, which means global problem. LRC 13.3, PS BETA 25.10, PS 25.9 updated 20240522. And here we go again. I'm used to have ctrl + E opening PS BETA. I want PS BETA to open. Nope, every now and then, when Adobe decides to update both PS, the path is messed up, sometimes it is PS BETA, sometimes just PS. I'm tired of this BS. put there the path for the exe, so I can fix it myself. same path as it is under "Additional External Editor" LRC doesn't see PS BETA version under drop down menu. How can you mess up this simple thing is beyond my understanding.
