random LR Classic shutdowns

Wanting to know if anybody else is experiencing this.  Since updating LR Classic, it now will simply go away!  It is totally random.  The latest example occurred when simply browing a folder in Library module but it has also happened while editing in Develop, while renaming files in Library module after download, adding keywords, and more.  When it happens, there is NO crash report request or any other indication at all.  I'm simply returned to my desktop interface!  When I restart, it will return to the state at which it shut down and I can continue to work with seemingly no ill effects other than the disruption of workflow and lost time.  It can go days between occurances while other times it will happen multiple times in a single day.

I'm running LR 13.1 on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit machine with 32gb RAM, NVIDIA GTX 2060 graphics card.

In a first step you should try to reset the preferences to the default settings by doing the following steps:

  • Close Lightroom.
  • Windows: Hold down [Alt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
Mac: Hold down [Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
  • Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
  • Close Lightroom.
  • Restart Lightroom.

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

Is your system up-to-date? Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver. Please make also sure that you have installed the Studio version and not the Game Ready version of your NVidia driver.

Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.
