Hi guys,
1st time, be gentle.
I am using Topaz photo AI to convert CR3 files to DNG. the result is over 10 times the size.
13mb to 140mb
any idea why?
I have tried different settings in Topaz, even no alterations(all settingsdisabled) with the exact same result.
I thought DNGs were supposed to be smaller?
should I converty to DNG in llightroom and then if needed, run it through AI photo?
I conert to DNG because thats what Topaz wants.
Thanks a mil
Ian

The "linear" DNG created by Denoise represents pixels similarly to TIFFs -- both have three separate channels, one for each of RGB, whereas raws have one channel for all three colors. So when you create a linear DNG or TIFF, you'll get that explosion in size. There are much more technical explanations available if you need them.
