Remove tool edits applied to previous images missing after update to Lightroom Classic 13.3.1

Bug report template:

Issue:

  • Lightroom Classic Version Number: 13.3.1
  • OS Version Number: MacOS 14.5 Sonoma

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Updated to lastest version of Lightroom Classic 13.3.1 from prior
  2. Noticed that images to which I had applied the Remove Tool were now missing those edits
  3. The remove tool edits were gone, as if they had been deleted from the image.
  4. That is, they are no longer present in the Develop module, not just removed from image preview.
  5. This occured without additional image editing on my part; the Remove tool edits disappeared and the Flickr export module noticed an edit change, although I had not further edited this image.

Expected result: All edits I made in previous versions of Lightroom Classic should be preserved when a new version is installed

Actual result: Remove Tool edits disappeared, corresponding with installation of the latest update (which made some signficant changes to the Remove tool for example, addition of generative AI option and masking).

I jumped the gun a bit on this bug—Turns out, from viewing History, that the real issue is that the Remove-Tool-Edited version was overwritten by a Lightroom Mobile version that apparently didn't hadn't synced or didn't preserve the edits. I don't (intentionally) do any image editing on my phone, although I might update a title or caption. No idea why or how this happened, but it is there in the history.
