Removing a file from LRC

Folks,

If I remove a file from LRC I am told the photos will be removed from the LRC catalog but the folder and files will remain on the disk. Does that mean that if the original file was corrupted somehow and now is

cursed with the ? sign, I cannot just remove all the photos with 'Remove' and then reload the images from my memory card and not have them corrupted a second time. Or...will I finally be able to export them to PS or email them or even make a virtual copy?

Or, should I remove the photos and reshoot them and them load those into LRC?

Thank you,

This is not a corrupted file.

? mark on the folder is not a corrupted file/folder, it means LrC cannot find the folder. You can fix this via https://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm

Do not re-import. This is very important. Do no re-import.

dj_paige,
Thank you. I will keep that reference for future use that, hopefully, I
will not have.
In the meanwhile, by some miracle, I discovered that now I could move the
photos and the ? is gone. I then took them out of LRC and placed them in
the Elements storage system since I felt uncomfortable in LRC.
If I had deleted the photos from LRC I understand that the files and
folders would still be on the hard drive. What would be the consequences if
I had tried to then import the files again to LRC?
Thanks,

I would strongly advise you to post a screenshot that illustrates your problem. You have been discussing this in another thread as well, if I'm not mistaken, and it seems to me you are mixing up some things, for the following reason: Corrupted images do not show a question mark. Missing images do not show a question mark, but missing folders do show a question mark. So do yourself a favor before making the mistake of removing images from the catalog and deleting edits in this process: post that screenshot. Embed it using this button 449CDCAD-20D0-4A00-B8BA-0940A92A3014.jpeg, do not attach it.

Hello Johan,
Thank you so much for offering help. I agree that the term 'corrupted' was
inexact.
Sometimes I get frustrated enough to use the term emotionally instead of
technically.
I did send a screenshot to another contributor. When they looked at it they
thought it was a (!) instead of a (?) but it was clearly a (?).
Also...by some miracle, the (?) has disappeared and I can now use the
images as
I see fit which will be to move them out of LRC. I guess I will never know
what I did to confuse LRC or what happened to fix the situation.
Such is life inthe fast lane.
By the way, you said to embed the screen shot using the (,) button. Was
that correct?

Johnan's post included a badge that looks like a mountain, not a comma. I've attached a screenshot showing where the button can be found.
