Repeated crashes when adding Denoised panoramas to a synced collection

I've experienced repeated crashes of Lightroom Classic. At first I thought they were caused by updating to 14.0. I updated to 14.01, but still experiened crashes. I tried the usual fixes - uninstalling and reinstalling, then deleting preferences, but that did not fix the issue. I tried opening a different catalog, and that worked fine, so I figured the catalog was corrupted. So I reverted to 13.5.1, with the previous catalog, and everything worked fine for awhile. But then it crashed, and again I experienced repeated crashes. In these cases Lightroom would only stay open for, at best, 30 seconds before crashing again, while I was just doing simple things like browsing through images.

In both cases - with 14.0, and 13.5.1 - the issues begain when I added images to a synced collection. After further investigation, I've narrowed it down to two files that cause this issue. Both are DNGs created with the Panorama Merge, which I subsequently (after merging) ran through Denoise. This is one of the new features with 14.0, which I wanted to try on some new aurora photos I made, but they seem to be causing this issue.

I've been able to re-create this issue consistently by adding these two denoised panoramas to a synced collection. Each time I do that, Lightroom Classic crashes within 15 seconds, and will repeatedly crash until I revert to a backup catalog that doesn't have those images in a synced collection. Adding other types of files to a synced collection doesn't cause this issue. Adding those denoised panoramas to a non-synced collection doesn't cause this issue. It only happens when adding those Denoised panoramas to a synced collection.

I'm running a 16-inch MacBook Pro, Nov. 2023, Apple M3 Max, Sonoma 14.6.1, 96 GB RAM.

We’ve reviewed the email address you use with this forum and find no crash reports in our system.

Did you see a crash dialog?

Do you use a different email address when filling out the crash report?

Was the crash dialog Adobe’s? Apple’s?

I saw numerous crash dialogs from Apple. Only once or twice from Adobe, but I did send them. I don't know why they would be under a different email address, but I suppose that's possible. I'll try making it crash again and sending another report.

Okay, I was able to make it crash repeatedly, and (eventually) get an Adobe crash report dialog to pop up. I filled it out, made sure it had my email address, and sent it.

FWIW, the culprit seems to be one particular file. I have two merged panorama images that I've subsequenctly run through Denoise. One is 34MB, the other 585MB. (Not sure why the first one is so small.) The crashes only seem to start when I add the 585MB file to a synced collection.

I looked at your email again today and found no crash reports for any version other than 13.5.1.

Please verify the installed version number of Lightroom Classic.

Additionally, verify that the email address you used to submit the crash report is the same as the one you use in this forum.

The next time you crash, fill out the report, including the email address, and screenshot it. Post a copy of the screenshot in your reply.

Yes, I'm using 13.5.1. I explained in my original post that I moved back to 13.5.1 after experiencing repeated crashes with 14.0 and 14.01. I now no longer think that the problem is related to 14.0 per se - it's just that 14.0 allows you to run Denoise on merged panos, and that merged panos run through Denoise and subsequently added to a synced collection create the problem. I haven't moved back to 14.0 or 14.01 yet because I'm reluctant to change anything now that I've got Lightroom working again.

Yes, the email address used in this forum and the one submitted with the crash report are the same.

If you crash again but under 14.0.1, please fill out the crash report and attach a screenshot of the dialog right before you hit submit. Post the screenshot in this thread.

Thanks
