Samsung DNG kein echtes RAW?

My experience with a Samsung S22 (but not the Ultra) was different than yours, the Denoise worked on those photos, but I don't think I was using ExpertRAW.

Nevertheless, later in that same thread, the advice is given to look at the metadata field Mosaic Data to see if the file can be processed via Adobe AI Denoise. Also, the advice to use the Lr mobile app is good advice, the Lr Mobile app will create DNGs on which AI Denoise will work.

Lastly, I decided that on my Samsung S23, the Lr Mobile app

"I take photos with my Samsung S22 Ultra with ExpertRAW in DNG format."

Right, the thread F. Mclion linked to has a link to a Samsung page for Expertraw saying that it records DNG in 16-bit linear RGB format. That format isn't compatible with Denoise (yet).

"if I take photos with LR on my cell phone and then save the photo, the metadata says "DNG version unknown""

In which program and where in that program do you see that message?

Which version number of LR Classic are you running (do Help > System Info)?

The October releases of the LR ecosystem create DNGs in version 1.7, which was announced back in June.

Lastly, I decided that on my Samsung S23, the Lr Mobile app simply took pictures that looked better after AI Denoise and other processing than either Samsung's Expert RAW or the regular camera DNGs (without Expert RAW). I didn't try this with the S22.

Could you please reach out to your contacts at Samsung again to clarify why they broke ProMode RAW support (and if they are intending to bring it back)? I even know the exact firmware versions now. S22 Ultra firmware CWB7 (and previous) had full raw support (I even still have a sample dng) but the next release CWCE in 02/2023 broke it until today and for all the devices coming after the S22 Ultra.
