Hi all,
Is there a way to use Lightroom to screen a bunch of photos to tag those that may not meet resolution / file size requirements?
I have a lot of portraits being submitted and need to check each for size & quality... being able to screen out low-res images first would save a lot of time.
thanks!

Create a Smart Collection with 'Size' used as the filter criterion (see below screenshot). Smart Collections are created and stored in the Collections panel.

The "size" in the Smart Collections is not File Size, as the OP requested. I don't think you can filter by file size in LrC (maybe there is a plugin that does this).
Or maybe the OP is incorrectly using File Size and really means Image Size, which would make more sense.

The OP indicates - screen out low rez images, which 'Size' in SC has options for.

OP specifically said "File Size"

Look at the thread title.

Many times the title says one thing and the text says a different thing. So we need to know what the OP really wants.

The question may be somewhat 'vague' depending on people's understanding of resolution and size.
The Smart Collection suggestion will work, if we agree upon sorting out 'low res' images from others. That's the request. Clearly if the OP agrees that say, anything smaller than 1200 pixels along the long axis, or 12000 pixels is low rez, then the SC will do the job. Or by meagapixel etc.

Would it be advisable to use Photo Mechanic for this?
Just trying out Photo Mechanic, so no experience with it yet.

Hi Everyone -
Basically, I'm screening for images that will work well (meaning, 300dpi) at roughly 2" x 3", so, 600 x 900.
Of course, some may be larger than that dimensionally, but be poorly focused, noisy, etc.
So, first, I'm hoping to be able to screen by "size", which may be based on dimensions or file size.
Thanks for all the input!

300dpi/ppi is kind meaningless, it is simply a metadata tag.
A file with 300 pixels alone can be 300dpi and it will output at that resolution 1 inch.
You want to work in the pixels you have or want to use. A document that is 3000 pixels can be 300dpi (tag) and thus, could output to 10 inches. Or the same document at 1000 dpi could be three inches.
You say you want 600x900 so that's what to look for in the suggestion for a Smart Collection. What Ian suggested will work.
