search for Metadata/Unique Identifier to Match JPG with RAW

In LRC v12.1 on Mac, I want to find the RAW file in a gallery called 'RAW Gallery' that corresponds to the JPG file that came from it & is in a separate gallery called 'JPG Gallery'. I get no results using, say, Metadata/EXIF et al in the RAW Gallery using the 'Date Time Original' of the JPG in the JPG Gallery . Is there otherwise a unique identifier shared by RAW & JPG files? 'To put another way, here's my sample workflow in post:

1. Transfer photos, all shot in RAW, to folder on Mac 'Full Shoot'. All have the camera name format such as 50D\_2364. Let's say there's 100 photos.
2. Import the 100 photos into LRC Collection 'Full Shoot'
3. Edit down to 20 photos within LRC & put into new collection 'Selects'. Photos are still in camera name format
4. Export the 20 photos into a folder on Mac called 'Ready to Publish' in JPG w/ shoot name/sequence. Such as 'Brinkerhoff Race 2023-1.jpg' -2 -3 etc.
5. In LRC, import the 20 photos from that folder on Mac 'Ready to Publish' into new collection 'Ready to Publish'.
6. Let's say I want to edit the RAW file that corresponds to 'Brinkerhoff Race 2023-5.jpg' . How do I find that RAW photo in the 'RAW Gallery'? I've tried a Metadata/EXIF search using 'Date Time Original' & such of the JPG w/ no results.
It's not an option, suffice it to say, to use Smart Collection to automatically create a collection of the 20 JPG photos.

If you included metadata when you exported the images to Jpeg, you could select the two collections and sort the results by capture time. The raw file should then be alongside the exported Jpeg. For larger collections, use a colour label to highlight the Jpeg first so that it stands out when you select the two collections.

Going forward, why not include the original file number (i.e. the last 4 digits) when you rename during export? That would make it a lot easier to find the original.

I think the information you need is in XMP metadata schema (not the XMP file). When I export all metadata from an NEF to JPG, I can see it

[File] File Name : 20150110_122319.jpg
[XMP] Preserved File Name : 20150110_122319.NEF
[XMP] Raw File Name : 20150110_122319.NEF

However, I don't know how to see it in LrC. The above information is from EXIFTOOL. Not sure you are interested, but you may be able to create a cross reference using EXIFTOOL but it is a command line tool.

The attached screenshots from jpg and raw respectively have identical info.

I've tried various methods of searching - in both raw & jpg collections - either Text-Any Searchable Field; Metadata dropdowns, using either '4/9/22  11:38:08' or '11:38:08' etc.    Zero results.

Did you try my suggested method? In case it wasn't clear, you can select BOTH collections at the same time (click on one, then control-click on the other), that puts the contents of BOTH collections into the grid. Sort by Capture Time and those two images will be alongside each other.

This worked! By selecting both collections, I can correlate capture time between the jpg and raw files.

To search by capture date using smart collections, you'll need to enter the date in the form yyyy-mm-dd or mm/dd/yyyy, e.g.

You can only search by capture date, not capture time. If you try to add a time:

LR will silently discard the time.  Worse, if you try to add a time to a date of the form 4/9/22:

LR will silently convert that to today's date, without a warning:

(Clearly a bug but no point in submitting it.)

To search for an exact capture date and time, you'll need to use the Any Filter plugin:

FWIW, here are the results using EXIFTOOL to create a CSV file cross reference of exported JPG files back to the original RAW file.

1.  I EXPORTED a small collection of pictures to JPG
2. I ran the following EXIFTOOL from the command line "exiftool -csv -PreservedFileName -RawFileName . > ref.csv"
3. Opened REF.CSV in my spreadsheet program. Screen shot below

I've been using the AnyFilter  plugin that hooks into the EXIFTool app. I couldn't get it to find the file I sought. Next time  I may investigate the CLI if necessary.

Jim's method of sorting by capture time is easy and quick.

If you want to search for a particular file exported and renamed from the original, you can use Any Filter to seach for the original file name in the Preserved Filename field:
