Should my 2013 Mac running Catalina be coping better with Photoshop and Lightroom Classic?

My Late 2013 iMac (Catalina 10.15) is struggling to run either Lightroom Classic or Photoshop - both applications are inordinately slow to open, sometimes taking tens of minutes and similalry sluggish when editing, making it almost impossible to use. Is there anything I can do to speed things up or do I need to upgrade my system. Thanks in advance.

I believe you're at the point where a system upgrade will be a mandatory step if you want to continue running Photoshop and Lightroom Classic.

 

Photoshop now requires Big Sur, and recommends Ventura. See the full system requirements here:

Lightroom requires Monterey. See the full system requirements here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/system-requirements.html

 

Newer hardware, especially newer GPUs, are a must for the newer versions.
