Hallo,

Ich habe die aktuellste Version von Windows 10 und von LR Classic

Mein LR Programm läuft am Rechner, das andere "LR-Biotop" befindet sich auf einer externen HDD; ich habe es auf weiteren HDDs gesichert. Ich habe das mit der Windows Kopierfunktion erledigt, aber da scheint sich ein unerwartetes  Problem zu ergeben:

Nun will ich mein "LR Biotop" auf den neuesten Stand bringen; dabei ist die Verbindung zwischen "Photospeicher" und Katalog verloren gegangen.

Die Wiederherstellung gestaltet sich schwierig, weil die Funktion "nahe Bilder suchen" nicht angezeigt wird.

Mein Verdacht: Die 2. und die weiteren HDD haben jeweils andere Laufwerkbuchstaben als die Original-HDD. Wie löst man das Problem, wenn doch beim Kopiervorgang ein neuer Buchstabe gefordert ist, womöglich auch abhängig vom jeweils  benutzen Port??

Bei Wiederherstellung aus dem Backup kommt die Meldung: "LR kann den Katalog aus der Sicherung nicht öffnen, da er schreibgeschützt ist und nicht geöffnet werden kann oder der Katalog wird von einer anderen Anwendung verwendet. Du kannst versuchen, das Problem zu beheben oder einen anderen Katalog auswählen" - Aha....

Ist es sinnvoll bei für die LR-Partition auf 4 HDDs jeweils denselben Laufwerkbuchstaben zu verwenden?

You could simply assign whatever drive letter Lightroom Classic is expecting to the external drive. For example, if Lightroom Classic thinks the photos are on F: and the photos are actually now on G:, go to the proper Windows settings and assign the letter F to the drive that is now G

Hallo, ich habe deine Info missverstanden und noch mehr Durcheinander angerichtet. Inzwischen ist das Problem gelöst und ich verstehe deine Nachricht besser.. Danke!

Ich habe die Bilder und  alle LR-Verzeichnisse auf  einer externen HDD.  Nun lese ich, dass man nicht im Explorer auf weitere HDDs kopieren soll, sondern in LR selbst. In den Anleitungen ist aber von "Verschieben",  nicht von "Kopieren" die Rede, meistens von der Festplatte am PC auf eine externe HDD.

ich möchte den Katalog und die Bilder auf mehreren HDD für den Notfall sichern... Und  wenn es größere Mengen neuer Bilder gibt, diese hinzufügen.  Bisher habe ich auf 3 weitere HDD im Explorer "gesichert", was anscheinend sinnlos ist; der Notfall ist zum Glück noch nicht eingetreten....

What is pointless about this? Backups, by the way, should be done automatically, not manually. your catalog file should be backed up automatically to a different disk via the built-in catalog backup feature. Your original photos should be backed up automatically by third party software. Doing this manually simply isn't effective, humans forget and don't do it, humans get busy and don't do it, humans get lazy and don't do it.

Thanks, for your advice.... Apart from "human  failure" -  I was told, that LR cannot find ("reference") the  images, if copying is done outside the LR environment i.e.  in Windows Explorer. Maybe the changed "letter" of the 2nd drive was responsible for my problems?  I am planning for possible future “emergencies”...

Could be that Windows changed the letter on your drive. It is easy to change it back. For example, if the drive was letter E: and Windows changed it to letter F:, you then instruct Windows to change the drive back to letter E:. Moving photos is not required here.

Better, you should choose a letter towards the end of the alphabet like W: or X: or Y: or Z: and then Windows will never change it.

It is also simple to move photos in Windows and then tell LrC where the photos are. In fact, this is the preferred method of moving photos; moving the photos in LrC is possible but a lot slower and has the occasional bug.
