Side by side images discrepancy when soft proofing

I believe there is a bug when soft-proofing the same image with more than one paper type. Specifically, after an image has been soft-proofed with one paper type, the software does not allow a side by side comparison with the original raw file and a second soft-proofed virtual copy. Instead, the comparison is between the first soft-proofed virtual copy and the second soft-proofed virtual copy.  This, of course, is useless in terms of soft-proofing. Also, I do not want to delete the first soft-proofed virtual copy as I may wish to print on that paper again.

Here are my steps for creating a second soft-proofed virtual copy with a different paper, using a Mac, Sonoma 14.1.2, Classic 13.2:

1. Open the original raw file in the Develop module and check the soft-proof box.

2. Change the icc profile to the new appropriate one

3. Make a change using the Tone Curve panel and then clicking on the Create Soft Proof Copy button.

4. Click on the Y key to set up a side by side presentation.

This should cause the original raw file to be on the left and the just created soft-proof copy to be on the right. Instead, the image on the left is the earlier made soft-proof copy.

I believe this is a bug but if I am doing something wrong please let me know.  Also, if there is a work around.

Thank you.

I resolved my own issue. At the bottom of the screen that shows the two versions side by side, there is a small "Before" command with a drop down menu. For some reason this defaults to the first soft-proofed copy and not the original raw file. But it can be reset to Original. Inconvenient but at least doable.
