Hallo,

Vielen Dank,

Jo Hoffmann

You need Lightroom Classic 7.3 or later to import the RAWs from this camera.

You can however use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert your RAW to DNG, and those can be imported into Lr 6.14.

Looks like there is no acceptable solution based on what you said.

A switch to DNG is out of the question, as DNG always saves a new image version when changes are made to the file, whereas when saving other file formats (RAW, Tiff ...), only the XML file is renewed in the event of a change.

DNG files will only change if you have checked Automatically write changes into XMP in the catalog settings.

Edits are always saved to the catalog.

If you don't want to subscribe, and dont't want to use the DNG converter, there is no way you can import photos from this camera to Lightroom 6.14.

Right and FWIW for the OP, the same is true for TIFF, PSD and JPEG. A DNG is a cousin to TIFF.

There is only two solutions: Update to a subscription that will support this and newer cameras or, use the free DNG converter and work with DNGs which have many, many advantages as well.

I don't have to, since Adobe has agreed with LR6.14 that the RAW data from the camera can be imported.

Yes, RAW data can be copied from the camera to the computer, but for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to use it, then the Camera RAW code within Lightroom needs to translate the RAW data. To do this for a Sony A7 iii requires Adobe Camera RAW version  10.3. Now your version  of Lightroom, version 6.14 contains the code for Adobe Camera RAW v9.4. This internal code cannot be updated.

I think not, that Camera RAW you are stating, is that the plugin for Photoshop that you are referring to? The Adobe Camera RAW plugin for Photoshop, and the Camera RAW code in Lightroom are separate bits of code. In the best situation, they can be equivalent, but that is not an absolute. The Adobe Camera RAW plugin is a bit if software code from Adobe, that can be downloaded for use in Photoshop, not for Lightroom.

To prove me wrong:

In Lightroom, bring up Help, bring up,About, what Camera RAW is listed?

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.
