I've tried to use the denoise on a Lossless and compressed L RAW files from my A7IV.
Initially it will start the process then stop. THen I'm unable to check the denoise box at all.
I've updated to LR Classic 14.5 and camera raw 17.5.
Updated to Sequoia 15.6.

The L Raw image is not a true RAW image as it has been partially demoisaced.

Thanks Dennis - I've also tried it with uncompressed images and get the same result.

Compression has nothing to do with this. It's the format (L Raw) itself.

Denoise works on raws from many Sony cameras compressed with Lossless Comp (L, M, and S) and Compressed (a lossy compression) -- I sampled about a dozen photos from 5 different cameras:
I can't say for sure, since these are proprietary formats, but Exiftool indicates that they are not demosaiced but contain mosaic data (Color Filter Array).

@kyle_9109: "I've also tried it with uncompressed images and get the same result."
This suggests there's something screwy with your computer or LR installation or (less likely) something specific to the raws. If you share a sample uncompressed raw with the problem, we can quickly rule out the latter. If the forum won't let you attach the file here, upload it to Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive or similar free service and post the sharing link here.

Here are two files to try - one is Compressed raw and the second is uncompressed RAW

I've tested this before on a7rV. These will work and these won't:
The critical factor is that it needs to be full resolution. Downsampling the sensor data disrupts he bayer decoding.

This folder contains three sample raws:
- ILCE-7RM5, Lossless Comp (M)
- ILCE-1, Lossless Comp (M)
- ILCE-1, Lossless Comp (S)
(I don't have a sample ILCE-7RM5 Lossless Comp (S).)
Denoise has been applied to all three by LR 14.5 (as you can see by importing with the included .xmp sidecars).
Exiftool shows the ILCE-7RM5 raw has the M reduced-resolution size and contains Color Filter Array data compressed with JPEG:
[SubIFD] Subfile Type : Full-resolution image
[SubIFD] Image Width : 6656
[SubIFD] Image Height : 4608
[SubIFD] Compression : JPEG
[SubIFD] Photometric Interpretation : Color Filter Array
[SubIFD] CFA Repeat Pattern Dim : 2 2
[SubIFD] CFA Pattern 2 : 0 1 1 2
[SubIFD] Sony Raw File Type : Sony Lossless Compressed RAW 2

OK, something has changed here. I just tried setting my a7rV to compressed M (reduced resolution) - and this file is accepted by Denoise. It wasn't when I tried before.
DNG Metadata still says "Mosaic Data: No", so apparently Denoise now works on demosaiced files.
I do have LrC set to convert to DNG on import. It's possible unconverted ARW behaves differently; didn't have time to test that.

Support for linear raw (demosaiced raw) was added to Denoise in LR 14.0:

Aha. I need to start paying attention to the release notes 😉

These all worked with Denoise on my computer. I'm really at a loss on what's happening here - I've uploaded some sample files to try in a Google drive above. Thanks!

Both those sample files denoised successfully in my LR 14.5 / Mac OS, e.g.:
Next steps:
1. Copy/paste the entire output from Help > System Info? That might give more clues.
2. Create a test catalog and import a couple of fresh never-before-imported raws into it. Do they Denoise?

So I'm thinking there is something oging on with my lightroom and computer.
I've tried it on an older version of LR and it worked but created green artifacts. But the fresh catalogue on the latest 14.5 LR still not working.
The full readout is below - Really appreciate the help John!
