Brand new desktop (two weeks). Lots of space in the hard drive. Lots of memory. New and fairly high end processor. Imports doing great and much faster than my old slow computer. Today I put a card in the card reader, per normal, and it is basically unusably slow ( about 20 images in over an hour). Tried rebooting, switched card slots. Still no good. What just happened? Until I can figure it out I'll just have to download through Windows and then just import the folders. Any ideas?

Windows 10 Home, Intel i7-9700 cpu @ 3Ghz (8-core 12 mb cache), 32 GB Ram, 1Tb SSD system hard drive, 1Tb 7200 rpm HDD data drive, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 video card

Hi there,

The issue you have mentioned regarding the slow import speed may be due to an issue with the card reader as well since you have already tried to change the card slots.

Would you mind sharing a few more details to help diagnose the issue?

1. Help us with the version of Lightroom you are using by going to Help > System info

2. What is the version of the operating system that you are using?

3. Can you try using a different card reader to check if that helps?

Regards

Nikunj

If you go to your profile there is an option to create a simple text Signature which can be automatically displayed at the foot of your posts. See the foot of my post. Just some relevant info.

And to add a separator line between the reply’s context and your signature, intentanaly misuse the “Insert/Edit code sample” button (third from the right, looks like </>). Without entering any text, and you will get close to, a nice horizontal line, like below. Ahh, but better seen in a normal reply not one of these blasted view all replies. Adobe, I really want to vent, but the moderators will probably sensor my rude slang. A nice bit og html tools/inserts would be nice Well that does not work in a reply to a reply

The culprit is the card reader, just as you mentioned. When I upload straight from camera or from the built in sd slot, no problem.
