New Nikon Z6ii, when will tethering be available?
System: MacOS Big Sur (10.16.0), Lightroom Classic 10.1.1 of Jan, 11th, 2021)
The camera is not recognized. It also is not on the list of compatible cameras (as of Nov, 2020).

When will tethering be possible?

I was having an issue as well. I ended up resetting my camera and that fixed my issue. Not really certain which setting was causing the issue. Hope this helps.

I can't tether my Z6II.

Current  Nikon firmware, current Windows 10 Pro, current LRClassic.

When connected via USB, camera appears in File Manager and LRC will import images from camera.

Tried multiple USB ports, multiple cables and even multiple computers, both running current W10 and LRC

IT WILL NOT TETHER.  Stuck with spinning indicator at "Detecting Camera"

I've run out of ideas.  Any suggestions welcome.

See Talviks comment below. Maybe video set to 4K is the problem? It was for me.

The problem is caused by the camera when the video setting is set to 4K. The video recording camera must be set to max 1080 p30, then everything will work.

Incredibly, inexplicably, after a week of troubleshooting, that was precisely the problem. Nowhere is this instruction given.

THANK YOU Talvik!

Is this suggestion by Talvik working with you up to this very day? I am planning to switch to the Z6II from the D750, and tethering in studio is the majority of my shoots. Thanks

I tried it and it worked. The full screen live view is nice.
I haven't tried it since. Other stuff intervened.

The Z6II is a pretty good still camera but a terrible movie camera. This
after a D70, 2 D200s and 2 D800s

The only Z lens I own is the 24-200, which is acceptably sharp and very
convenient. The F to Z adaptor solution is so-so.

Thank you so much for your information. I cannot switch to Capture One since the majority of my work is already optimized flow with Lightroom. Together with my editors, we all use just Lightroom. Looking forward to purchase my Z6II this year, and continue on with tethering to Lightroom.

I still use tethering to Lightroom every day with my z6II and everything works fine. I started using z6II in november last year and definitely recommend this camera. I edit all my photos in lightroom. I also have z 85/1.8s, mc 105/2.8s, mc 50/2.8, 24-70/4s lenses and pictures are great. If you currently have D750 you can buy ftz adapter and keep using your old lenses. I'm using this adapter and it works. Gimbal DJI RS 2 and Smallrig camera cages work with z6II as well.

All my pictures in adobe stock are made with z6II. If you are interested you can watch them here. https://stock.adobe.com/ee/contributor/210157701/m-talvik?load_type=author&prev_url=detail

With new Lightroom classic v11 the problem is fixed!

You can have video setting set to 4K (2160p60) and everything works.

Hi

Try clearing your memory card in camera before connecting tethering. This worked for me.
