Tethering using a Nikon D750 and Lr Classic

Hello,

I use Lightroom Classic on my desktop PC, running on Windows 10 Professional. I have my Lr catalog set up to be on my internal hard drive (designated Drive D) and save my raw and edited files to an external hard drive.

I now want to start shooting tethered using my laptop (not the desktop PC). My laptop also runs on Windows 10 (home, not the Professional version of Windows 10).

How should I go about this, bearing in mind that m Lr catalog is on my Desktop's internal hard drive. Should I set up a second Lr Catalog on my Laptop?

Any advice would be greatly apprciated.

Should I set up a second Lr Catalog on my Laptop?

Yes.!

You need LrC installed on the Laptop, and a Catalog. However-

You could use the External Drive for the Laptop Catalog which would make the next step so much easier-

Then merge the Laptop catalog with the Desktop catalog by the function- [Import from another Catalog]

So in summary-

SHOOT ON LAPTOP

-LrC installed on the Laptop,

-The External Drive connected to the Laptop,

-Create a new Catalog, saving it on the External Drive,

-Tether the camera to the Laptop,

-Set destination for the tethered files directly to a sub-folder of the Catalog on the External drive.

ON THE DESKTOP

-Connect the External drive,

-Open your Desktop working Catalog,

-[Import from another catalog] selecting the 'Tether' catalog on the External drive.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.0, Photoshop 27.0, ACR 18.0, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0 .
