Too Much CPU usage?

I have an issue when using LR Classic on my MacBook Air, in that when I first open LR, it works fine. But as I continue using, each click of the mouse brings up the spinning circle for several seconds, then even longer.    Then eventually, my entire laptop freezes with a message that I am using too much memory & I have to Force Quit LR.

LR is version 14.0.1.   Computer is Somoma 14.5,  8 GB memory, 250 GB free storage space.   Activity Monitor showing approx 37 % cpu usage as LR is open but sitting idle.  (DOing nothing, it just jumoed up to 53% usage)   Showing 28 GB memory.  THe only item that shows more cpu usage is "kernal task" whatever that is.

THe program is just very difficult to use this way.  I haven't even gotten to download Photoshop yet considering how much of a hog (?) LR C is.

Hi, we're sorry about the trouble!

Please go to the Help menu in Lightroom Classic, then System info, and copy the text. You can either paste the text here or in a text file and share the file with us here.

What's the size of the catalog you are working on? Go to Preferences under the Lightroom Classic menu, then Lightroom Sync, and check if you see any files under Sync activity. Let us know if you see multiple files there.

Thanks,
Nikunj

Thanks for the info! Please locate the images you see in the Lightroom Sync panel in the Synced collections and remove them. Also, go to https://adobe.ly/4i96HvY and check if you have any images in the Deleted section. If you do, remove the images and check if that helps with Lightroom Classic.

Thanks,
Nikunj
