Transferring new pics from ps to lr

Hi there. On my PSC. I take pics from Lightroom to ps stack and use parts of them -switching heads for example- then flatten to save.  These new pics do not return to lr. But remain in a pic file somewhere in my pc.  I would like them to return back to the original file in lr.   What do I need to do for that to happen.  I had no trouble when using Apple. But it does not work the same on the pc that I am now using   Thank you
