Trouble importing to LrC

Lightroom Classic 12.3, when importing new photos, fails to update catalog, recent import and also does not create smart previews. LrC must be restarted after import before editing/developing can be done. Running Mac with OS ver 13.4. Advice, please.

Please give info on your import process, source, Camera, SD card, Internal/external disk, which option Add, Copy, Move and destination?

Photos are imported into LrClassic from external HD LaCie (formatted as Mac Os extended) with the add option. The box for "Create smart previews" is checked. LrC catalog etc. is available on the Mac's own HD. The same problem occurs if importing photos is done as above but from the "Desktop". Regards.

This problem where you need to restart LrC before you can see the photos, or before you can see the edits, has been reported from time to time. I do not know the answer, but I advise you to search this forum for similar reports of this problem.
