Unable to edit photos

My Macbook Pro M1 has automatically updated to the latest version, maybe a week ago.

The problem is that now I really cannot edit any photos. Presets, history, and everything else on the left side in Editor mode are GREYED OUT. So is the edit section to the right. ALL GREYED OUT.

Meanwhile, there is a message over the loaded photo saying "loading...." (which it never does). Then, when right clicking on the program in the app-bar, the message "the program doesnt respond" turns up, and I have to force quit it.

Now I have to roll back to the version before, and hope that I'll be able to edit any photos for all my waiting clients. I don't have time for this. Pleeeease fix the bug.

Hey, @Monica Helén. Welcome to the Lightroom Classic Community. I'll help you figure this out. What version of Lightroom & the macOS are you working on? Have you recently imported a large batch of images?

Lightroom Classic on newer macOS versions needs extra permissions to access external drives & NAS drives & to function normally. Try this:

Let us know how it goes. Thanks!
