Unable to sucessfully launch LR Classic. Currently v10

Lightrro Classic is visible in Task Manager.

But never launches fully. I cant even end the task in Task Manager.

I have tried retsarts, reboots etc.

I even tried "Solution 2: Rename SLCache and SLStore folders" here (Lightroom doesn't launch or closes automatically after splash screen (adobe.com), which has helped me once in the past.

Also imporant to mention when last exiting LR Classic (when last run OK) it got hung optimizing the catalog during backup. I had no option but to force power off, as laptop totally locked up.

I would appreciate assistance to resolve start-up issue (without going back to older catalog backup etc.)

All other apps appear to work fine, just not LR Classic.

Did, perhaps, LrC not properly close? Did it leave a lock file behind?

Hi GoldingD
Yes there was a lock file associated with catalog file.
So deleted and retried with no success (even after reboot and multiple
attempts etc).
On execution of LrC to start program, new lock file is created.
Lightroom appears in Task Manager as a background process (which presumably
is not normal).
And within approximately 60 seconds the computer freezes preventing any
interaction at all.
I have even attempted to end the process before freezing and can't do that
either.
This freezing does not occur with any other program and all works normally.
But after starting LrC then freezing follows.

Would appreciate any assistance from you or the community with next steps
to resolve this painful problem.
Thanks in advance.

No not really. I had to go back to earlier backups until I  found one I could successfully open. But have never been able to backup ir optimize it. So have created a new catalogue for new images going forward. And only open and close old catalogue to access older images. Not ideal but i can live with that. Have tried importing old catalogue to new one, but same issue unfortunately.
