I have a rather peculiar problem with Lightroom, which is somewhat difficult to describe. First, I have the current version of Lightroom with the latest updates installed (Lightroom_Catalog-v13.lrcat). Here is the problem: I was trying to download some photos, and when I was trying to enter a name for the download, I was unable to finish entering the name because when I typed the remainder of the name nothing appeared. I was able to use the part of the name that I had typed as the name of the download, which made it possible to download the images. The part of the name that I had typed could not be deleted or completed. Since I could not delete it, I used it for a subsequent download. I tried to use the “Rename” function to change the partial name to the proper name for both of these downloads; however, this did not work. So, I was left with a partial name in the box for naming downloads which I couldn’t delete. While trying a variety of things to solve this problem, I somehow managed to delete the partial name; however, now I can’t enter anything in the box, so I can’t download anything.
Another peculiar thing happened at the same time that I lost the ability to enter anything in the naming box: I lost the ability to designate an image to be deleted by hitting the X key on the keyboard; however, I can still delete an image by using the cursor to indicate that it should be deleted.
I haven’t the slightest idea what I can do to solve this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Perhaps some clarification of you post will help an answer-
"enter a name for the download"- Is that a Folder Destination or a Rename of the files?
"unable to finish entering the name"- Were there any unusual characters in the name? (./@# etc)
"the name that I had typed could not be deleted or completed"- And which "box" are you referring to?
"lost the ability to designate an image to be deleted by hitting the X key on the keyboard"-
Perhaps a reset of the Preferences file will solve the quirks. (Save a copy first)

1. Yes, I am referring to the Folder Destination. I organize my images by date and description. So, for example, I would enter "2-25 Red Shoulder Hawk" in the space after "Into Subfolder ______________" 2. There were no unusual characters in the name--I only used quotations marks here to clarify what went where. 3. Again, the " Into Subfolder ___________" Destination. Thanks for your help.

I really do not know why you cannot type complete words into the {Info Subfolder} box.
Are you using any stray spaces either in front or behind the text?
Did you try a reset of the Preferences?
For an Import- Can you post a screen-clip of the Destination Panel including the highlighted Drive , Folder, or Year, you have selected for the copied files (lower down in the panel)?
