Unspecified "Slow" complaint

New Here ,
Jun 05, 2023 Jun 05, 2023

Hi,

I am working on a 2017 iMac and in the last few weeks lightroom (version 12.3) has been unbelievably slow. To a point where I can barely work. I have bought a new SSD external hard drive and also changed my two 8GB RAM to two 16GB Ram.

Unfortunately not much has changed.

I feel like I have tried every piece of advice Google has to offer. Maybe someone here can help.

Thanks

Hey, @inesh7426643. Welcome to the Lightroom Classic community. I'll help you figure this out.

What troubleshooting steps have you tried already? Does it slow down after a specific set of steps? Is there a noticeable pattern to this behavior?

Besides Lightroom getting slow, check the Activity monitor to know if the RAM usage peak, abnormal temps, CPU usage, and unexpected read/write operations.

To begin troubleshooting, test some variables like:

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

There are a few reports from Mac users experiencing a similar issue to yourself. Having tried most, if not all, the usual suggested fixes, they reverted/downgraded to LrC 12.2.1. You'll need to use the Adobe Creative Cloud App from which you choose 'Other Versions'. I've attached an annotated screenshot that may help.

Note that reverting to an earlier version is the least favoured solution for performance issue. So, please first try the suggestions provided by Sameer, et al. If you do choose to revert to 12.2.1, then please let us know whether it helped or not.
