Is there any chance that I can update my perpetual copy of LR to 5.7, or even to 6.0?

Moving to Lightroom forum (but I don't know for sure it will be the right LR forum).

You can download LR 5.7.1 from this trusted site:

https://prodesigntools.com/lightroom-5-ddl-comparison-vs-lr4.html#ddl

(I tested the link just now.) While it's still possible to download LR 6, you'd need to obtain a license, and Adobe no longer sells those.

I would like to tell you otherwise, but I know of no way to do what you want through Adobe.   For a reference, you can click on this link:  https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/lightroom-6-end-of-support.html

As I'm sure you know, the current version is 13.xx.  Each update has added useful tools and features.  Version 5 just might be too old.
