LR 6. Worked w/o any issues for ~ 6+ years. Suddenly a month ago got into problems starting up.
Did everything suggested by Adobe support. No go.
Windows 7 Professional 64bit. TLS 1.2 enabled. Internet Explorer 11 installed. OS updated to latest via windows update.
re-installed LR 6.
Sequence of problem: Start LR -> Sign In required dialog -> Click Sign in now -> Update Required dialog (no prompt to actually sign in)
Adobe changed something on their end. They of course would not say what.
LR6 on start up seems to hit [login URLs censored. Had to remove them to get this to post]
All my photo editing has been done with LR since version 1. What the hell do I do now?
Try doing a clean uninstall/reinstall:
And then if you didn't have LR 6.14 installed before (the last version of LR 6), download and install it:

The sorcery performed by the cleanup tool has exorcized the devils. LR runs now.

Glad you got the issue resolved, and thanks for the update -- that could help others.
I'd like to add:
The cleanup tool's log shows it failed to remove most files, even though it has actually removed them.
I had to manually remove those that it actually failed to remove: pdb.db and Media_db.db
