Upgrading to a new WIN 11 computer

Is there an opinion as to the optimum amount of RAM one should put into a new computer [looking at a Dell AIO]?  Most Gen 11 specs that are "affordable" only go as high as 32GB - the "gaming" models are 2-3 times the cost in order to go up to 64GB.  My current computer is running on 16GB but is showing signs of age and a major drop in speed with crashes when working with multiple programs at the same time.

There's a number of questions here:

• Is LrC supported under W11?
• You can check the LrC System Requirements (shows W10)
• In terms of memory, you need to consider all concurrent apps you may be running at the same time e.g. LrC, PS, Topaz etc.
• Consider all apps in selecting a video card.

First of all, since you don't say, what software are you referring to?

If you are referring to Lightroom Classic:

Computer memory above 16GB is rarely needed for Lightroom Classic under Windows 10. Memory is rarely the bottleneck in Lightroom Classic. If you are running other software at the same time, then perhaps you do need more memory. I am not aware of any performance testing for Windows 11.

Ignore the system requirements document in this case, it tells you the bare minimum for the software to run; and not the amount needed for "normal" operation.

Crashes would not be due to memory, unless your memory chips are defective, and even then its not the 16GB that's the problem. But since you talk about major drop in speed ... you need to provide more information ... major drop in speed doing what actions in Lightroom Classic (please be specific and detailed).
