My Cat is a latest version unfortunately, but i need to transfer to my colleague who is using an older imac that cannot upgrade to an OS that will enable use of 12 Cats. Is there a solution for my colleague to use this cat, anything i can do?

There is no downgrade option for catalog files into an older version.

You can save xmp back to the files and import into a catalog which can be opened in the appropriate LR version.
