Using the new Mask tools breaks Lightroom

Greetings.

After upgrading to LRv11 to try the new mask tool, I discovered that using it breaks my lightroom. I have access to all features up until I open the mask tool and create a new mask. After which most of the features become greyed out I loose all right click functionality, most of the options in the drop down menu's, and many of the keyboard shortcuts no longer function.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled LR v11 several times, trying to keep my presets, delete my presets, with and without hardware acceleration, and verified that I'm on the latest MacOS version.

Anything else I can try? I'm kinda in a bad spot where I have photos I need to go to a client and cannot edit them right now. Waiting a month for v11.1 to be released and hoping that fixes the problem is not an option.

Hi there,

We're sorry for the trouble with Lightroom Classic. Please try to update your Lightroom Classic to v 11.0.1 and then restart the computer and check if that helps.

You may also try resetting the preferences: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

Backup your preferences prior to resetting the preferences: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

Let us know if that helps.

Regards,

Tarun

Just curious, have you hit 'Done' to close the mask after you create it before trying to access other features?

DS256: Yes, I have hit done. Perhaps it's a bug where clicking done doesn't restore those features / options?

Tarun: I have updated to 12.0.1 The brush tool works better now while editing masks. But I still can not use any other Lightroom features after using the mask tool.

"DS256: Yes, I have hit done. Perhaps it's a bug where clicking done doesn't restore those features / options?" I don't know how, but try:

  • Disabling your plug-ins.
  • Disabling your GPU

LATEST

Disabling my GPU had no effect.
LRc would only let me disable the SmugMug plugin. So I just went and deleted the others as I know I will never use them in the future. This worked for the FIRST photo I edited. Once I went to the second photo, the problem returned and I couldn't use any right click or pull down options.
