Vertical orientation Makes Photo Deselected

After installing Lightroom Classic v 12.0.1, it will no longer allow me to set a vertical orientation, either with the shortcut X or by unlocking the aspect and manually moving the bars.  It automatically deselects the image.

Running Lightroom Classic v 12.01.1, Windows 10 x64, processor 3.4Ghz, AMD Radeon R9 360.

You may need to reset preferences. Hold down the Alt key in the General tab of Preferences to reveal a hidden button to rest preferences.
