When I star rate my edited image the file reverts back to the original

I am editing my image in photoshop and saving back to lightroom. When in lightroom I rate my image 5 star it then reverts back to the original file. I have done a reset of lightroom but this has not helped. Can anyone help with this issue?

Have you got a filter on or changed your sort order?

When you send an image to Photoshop, a new (tiff or psd) file is created. If you rate this image while you have an active filter that filters out five star images, then the rated image disappears because of that filter, and the original (that was stacked and so you did not see it) is selected again. That is probably what happens.
