Why is Adobe Lightroom 12.5 removing my photos from its original folder? I don't want this, I need them to stay in the original folder where I have them sorted. I would appreciate anyone's advise. This is a huge issue for me.

It's not clear from your post when LrC moves your photos. If it's during import, then you should be using the 'Add' rather than 'Copy' or 'Move' options at top of the import window.

Hello Ian,
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
I do not have an 'Add', only an 'Import'.
It is happening when I import the photos. It didn't use to do this, its something that started after the last update.
It also won't save to the 'Same folder as original photo' anymore, even though I have that option selected.
Both issue appeared after the last update and its very frustrating.

First you click on Import, then you click on ADD.
Please see the screen captures at the link I give below.

You are probably importing the photos using the MOVE option. You want to use the ADD option.
See the documentation at https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/import-photos-video-catalog.html
PS: The software name is Lightroom Classic 12.5, not Lightroom 12.5

I no longer have that feature after the last software update.

Every Lightroom Classic user has that feature. First you click on Import, then you click on ADD. Please show us a screen capture of what you see when you try to Import. Use the "Insert Photos" icon to include your screen capture in your reply. DO NOT attach files.

I said: "Use the "Insert Photos" icon to include your screen capture in your reply. DO NOT attach files." but you attached a file, which I cannot open.
Ian Lyons asked you to use the UPLOAD button (which is what I call the "Insert Photos" icon) and even showed you where it is located, but you didn't use that.
Please follow the instructions.

Wow, I sure hope you don't work for Adobe, that was really rude of you!

Ian, for some reason when I select 'Import' my software is also defaulting to 'Move' and I don't seem to have the options to 'Add' or to 'Copy'. I have a screen capture included.

Adobe Lightroom 12..5 won't save to same folder as original photo, even though I have it selected....why? I have done extensive searches online in hopes of finding a solution. I would appreciate anyone's help.

Are you trying to overwrite the original? That is not possible.

Hello Johan,
Thank you for responding to my post. Attached is a screen capture, it appears I am only able to import using the 'MOVE' option, the others are greyed out.

@Susanne5FBB If you move your mouse across to 'Add' the text should become light grey / white and clickable.
Note that I'll merge this thread with the other one you created to avoid confusion.

Thank you for your assistance, but I actually am having two different issues.
1). Lightroom is only allowing me to 'MOVE' the images I import. I created a short video to show that I am not able to select any other option.
2). Lightroom won't save to the original folder even though I have selected, "same folder as original photo".
I am grateful for your assistance.

Lightroom-Classic cannot make a catalog reference to photos on your iphone!
You MUST import with the [Copy] function so as to add them to a folder location within your computer.
You also cannot 'Copy' them back to the iPhone (same folder).
You cannot use the [Add] option in an import if the files are on a device other than a local hard-drive. (To use [ADD]- the files must already exist on a hard-drive.)
Your Import has to [Copy] the files to your hard-drive in a folder that you set in the 'Destination' panel.
Second thoughts- Why are you not using Lightroom on your mobile phone and letting Lightroom-Classic automatically download your iPhone files to your catalog and hard-drive? You do not even need to use the Import function of LrC!

No, they are not greyed out. An option you cannot use will be almost black. This is the normal view, showing you that 'Move' is selected. Just click on the one you want to use.

A couple of observations/issues
1.The source, Projects, is that a hard drive? A SD card? A phone? what?
2. Not shown, the right side panels. Is something odd over their. Cannot say as it is not shown. Please post a more complete screen capture.
3. Outside of LrC, using Finder, copy(never ever Move) the photos to the desired hard drive, the desired folder. Then in LrC attempt a Import, this time hopefully via Add.
4. if the above fails, then change the Import to Copy, then over on the right, change the destination. Attempt one import, just one image. If that works, then a previous bad destination would be the issue. At this point you can attempt Add.

Hello GoldingD,
Thank you for getting back to me and for your willingness to help.
1). I was pulling images from an external server into Lightroom that I have on my Mac, Desktop.
2). The right side was just the standard 'Panels', so I hadn't included it in the screen capture.
3). Great advise, I'll give that a try.
4). I would have, but the other buttons/options were not clickable links for me at the time...however...everything seems to be working now. I'm not sure if my system did an update over the weekend or what, but I seem to have the option to "Copy, Move, Add, etc." now.
