Will your Lightroom Catalog work if needed?

Mylio and Excire are two programs that some people using Lightroom seem to find useful. Mylio says it is a photo organizing and management application that puts all your digital images at your fingertips — from any of your mobile or desktop devices, "The only software that connects your computer, phone, tablet, and hard drives into a single photo library."

Excire Foto Software is described as a tool for photo management, searching, finding duplicate photos and facial recognition in LR  using AI to help you sort, browse and label images. There is a stand-alone and a lightroom plug-in version. Both of these seem to be connected to Lr in that they both seem to always know what is going on with your Lightroom files. After trying them out and then removing them I ran into a LR problem that was entirely my fault and the easy solution was to simply restart LR from a backup of my LR catalog. However, LR would not run any of my catalog backup files. I got messages to the effect that something was running using LR and that I needed to close whatever that was in order to use the backup catalog. I could not find whatever was reported to be running. I believe the removal of one or both of the two programs was not complete and that may have been causing the problem.

Forget about the two programs, I was able to sort all that out. My question is: Does anyone ever try out their LR catalog backups just to see if they are working and can be used if needed?

From now on, when you get an error message, please write it down or make a screen capture, and then provide us the exact word-for-word error message. Given the approximate message you provided, I think this is the solution https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/lightroom-error-catalog-cannot-be-opened-lrcat-lock.htm...

My backup catalogs have always opened.
