It would be a really cool feature to be able to sync video films from Desktop Lightroom to Mobile Lightroom rather than just the other way round. We use Lightroom Mobile to present image media to clients but have to switch from Mobile Lightroom to another programme when we move the presentation from 'stills' to the 'motion'.
What's especially weird is that I can shoot a video clip with my DSLR, sync the file to my iPhone through iTunes, manually add it to a collection in LR mobile, and it will sync that file back to LR desktop as a duplicate. Why can't I just send it from the desktop to my mobile?
Not only I just find out video syncing only works in the one direction, from mobile to desktop, but I find this out after many, many tries in many different ways, not understanding why some videos would sync and some wouldn't (none were shot with my phone, but some I had at some point downloaded to my camera roll and uploaded to Lightroom that way I guess... Not only that's a silly omission, but it's one that isn't explained *anywhere* by adobe! At least nowhere obvious, since it's a half feature that works and it shouldn't require a tutorial view (in case the explanation is present there) but a mention anywhere when videos are copied from the desktop into a folder that's synced with mobile. That's a HUGE bummer for me, as I want to be able to organize both my images as well as videos. It's not just an obscure file format, it's *video* and if Lightroom, which works with video. At the very least inform us so we don't waste our time! (As in when selecting a video file and "Develop", one is told that it's not compatible with video, even if that's more obvious than it not beimg able to sync with mobile...
I have spent a long time trying various workflows, and at this point I want to go all-in with Lightroom and Lightroom mobile. Being able to sync video from Lightroom desktop to Lightroom mobile is the final feature I would need in order to adopt a full Lightroom workflow. Without this feature I can't adopt the Lightroom workflow I'd love to use.
I'm at a point where I want to adopt a workflow for the long haul, and I want that to be Lightroom as it's my #1 pick. Is this feature coming? If not, I have to look elsewhere.
Wait... I can even upload videos to collections using lightroom.adobe.com and those are available in mobile and desktop. Now just use that same API from Lightroom desktop. It's that easy, right? 🙂
Sure the web version looks like it's been transcoded to be at a lower resolution, but that's better than nothing.
And even better, since the video I uploaded via the web was one already in my library it showed up in LR desktop as a virtual copy of the original, and it also showed up on LR mobile at full resolution (or so the file info says). I maintain hope this will work someday!
OK, this could be the work-around I've been searching for! Can you give more details? 1. Did you A. export from LR, B. publish from LR, or C. "add photos" from lr.adobe.com? 2. If you did any edits, did they make it? (Such as trimming start/end, "Quick Develops", or metadata changes such as capture time edits). 3. Did you add to a collection on the web version with the collection and video showing up on Mobile? 4. Did the virtual copy show up in LR desktop automatically or did you have to scan the folder/collection to pick up changes?
Thanks for any details you can give! Meanwhile, I think I'll try a few Frankensteins and see what happens. Sure hope LR Mobile fixes this video issue and adds keywords before another decade rolls around. It is close to an ideal solution, but the big holes get ignored while they fine-tune stuff that seems obscure (to me).
I wish I could remember what I had done. If I had to guess I found the file on the filesystem and uploaded it straight from there as a simple test. After that it picked it up automatically as a virtual copy, which was a side effect I wasn't expecting.
Does this work yet? My previous subscription expired a while ago so I have no way of trying this again. I'm still hoping someday I can switch back to Lightroom.

Lightroom CC for desktop can upload to the cloud/mobile apps, but Lightroom Classic can't (and probably never will). You certainly could use the CC desktop or web app to get those clips up to the cloud though.

Thank you for your reply. I just found that I hadn't used my trial of Lightroom CC yet, gave it a shot, and sure enough a video I imported into Lightroom CC on my desktop showed up in Lightroom CC mobile!
I've also been grappling with this, ehem, limitation (bug!) and have been testing out some workflows to get around it. Interested to hear how others deal with it.
My use case (as others have pointed out) is, that I want to have all of my photos and videos from all my cameras in one place (stored locally on my machine) and then occasionally share some photos and videos for friends/family to see on the web.
Let's say you've gone out and taken a bunch of vacation photos and videos on your DSLR and you want to share some. Assuming that someone is already invested in Lightroom CC Classic, and has a lot of photos stored there (as I do :), it seems like you either need to: 1) Keep on using LR Classic CC to synch photos to the web, and then upload just the videos with LRCC, or 2) Start uploading all of your photos and videos in LR CC and do some crazy synching acrobatics to make sure that only the stuff you care about sharing is in the cloud.
The problem I've found with (1) (and cygnl7 mentioned this in his post two years ago) is that - assuming all of your photos and videos have been imported in to LR Classic CC - when you separately upload just the videos you want to share to LR CC (i.e. by picking the individual files from "Add Photos"), it re-synchs a copy of them down to LR Classic CC so you have two copies in your library (one shared, one not). Gah.
For (2), here's what I've worked out: - Import all of these photos and videos into LR CC (I import into a Collection, let's call it "Vacation - All") - (They will automatically show up in a Collection in LR Classic CC) - In LR CC, choose which photos and videos you want to share, and make a new Collection, specifically for sharing (let's call this "Vacation - Shared"). (This will also synch down to LR Classic CC.) - From CC, Publish that collection to the web. Because you're doing this from CC, it will include photos and videos (yay!) - Back in LR Classic CC, un-sync the "Vacation - All" Collection, so you can still have all your photos / videos stored locally - AFAIK, if you Un-synch that Collection, all your vacation photos/videos (not just the ones you want to share) will still be in "All Synced Photographs" (that's what the error message says) - If you don't want them all to be in "All Synced Photographs" I think you actually need to COPY the "Vacation - All" collection (it will make a new, un-synced collection) and delete the original "Vacation-All" collection, making sure that the checkbox to leave the photos in "All Synced Photographs" is unchecked.
After this crazy set of steps, you'll end up with: - All your vacation photos / videos stored locally on your machine in LR Classic CC - Some subset of your photos and videos on LR CC, and accessible from the web for others to view. - (I think 🙂
Anyone have any suggestions for how to optimize this? For what I feel like would be an incredibly basic and high-priority use case, the number of steps here is insane. As is the fact that you literally need to use all the versions of LR (Classic CC, CC, Web) to accomplish this task.
I have a Lightroom CC subscription. Currently the Creative Cloud will only sync videos captured by my mobile device. However, I would like to be able to sync videos from my desktop to the web (or to my mobile device). Such capabilities exist with other services (e.g. Google Photos). I like the additional features I get from my Lightroom CC subscription, but I also want to be able to upload desktop created videos to the Cloud.
This lack of functionality is surprising. None of my videos sync from Lightroom classic to Lightroom cloud. I need to upload all my videos manually via the web interface into lightroom cloud. Not to mention that the web upload of videos is tremendously slow even on a 100mbit uplink connection. And then they duplicate in classic. How does this even makes sense?
It's not only surprising, but also not acceptable for a "cloud service". However, don't excpect any update regarding LR Classic. They have "officially" announced it's death regarding sync capabilities (integration with could services). If you want cloud, you'll need to migrate to cloud. Fully... (take it of leave it policy)
Why can I not still share videos from Lightroom CC back to my iPad Pro? This is ridiculous, I have brought this up any times before. Why can I share photos but not videos.
I ONLY use an iPad, does anyone have any suggestions for how I get my videos back onto my device? Is there a work around?
Lightroom CC can and does upload videos to the cloud, making them available on your iPad Pro. Perhaps you mean Lightroom Classic? Where are you trying to upload them from?

Ah, gotcha. So you're wanting to save to the camera roll or share to an external app. I'll split this out into a separate thread, as this one's more focused on uploading from Lightroom Classic.
One workaround right now might be to add the video to an album that you can share, and send the link to the album by text/email. That would allow the recipient to view and even download the video without it filling up anyone's email inbox too.
