P: Be able to select which face is shown in the Named People.

I have been scanning a lot of family photos, so I thought it might be useful to try the People feature. At this time, I have 8727 photos scanned (not done yet!), 1935 Named people faces, and 11,759 Unnamed people faces. As you can see, a daunting task. I would like to give some feedback on this to improve, speed up the process.

1) Be able to select which face is shown in the Named People. I saw that someone already asked if this can be done and the answer was no, so would like to explicitly list this as a suggestion. My 46 year old son has his baby photo showing. Others have photos showing that would make the proverbial drivers license a glamor shot. Makes no sense.

2) I think this broke in the recent update from a day ago: when I double click on a Named Person, the individual faces have NO right-click menu. How do we fix mistakes? There should be an option to remove faces from a Named Person collection.

3) When I am working in the list of Unnamed People, there is an option to remove the suggested name (circle with diagonal bar, "No this is not...."). I would like to go a step further an be able to hide the faces that only have a "?". To me, these people without name suggestions reprecent a pool of faces that I am not yet ready to remove entirely, but don't want to bother figuring out names for right now. Thus, I don't want to keep seeing them until later.

4) When I double-click on a Named Person, in the list of Similar faces, there should be the same options to remove suggested name, be able to hide any "?".

5) The list of Unnamed People starts with people that have stacks of  more than 1 image, sorted in descending order of number of images in stacks. Since in several cases the same name is showing up in multiple stacks that are not adjacent, it would be more efficient to be able sort the faces by Name. Also, once we are past the stacks, it would be LOT more efficient to be able to sort the faces by name, as that way you can click-shift-click multiple adjacent images with the same and accept them at once.

6) Some photos don't have any identified face regions, even though they have faces - sometimes large and very clear faces. In the filmstrip view (Loupe view?) there is an option to draw them by hand, I would like to suggest adding a button to do this. That would speed up adding multiple faces.

7) The written documentation needs improvement. In the chapter: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/face-recognition.html  there are only written instructions for tagging faces, not a word about how to use the names? Typically, I scan/read the text and ignore videos on these help pages -- eventually I watched the video and it finally explained that the names get added as keyworkds and how to get a filtered list of photos. It would be nice to have some text about this!

8) I don't know how old the algorithm is that finds similar faces, since the help pages was not updated since 12/1/2021 I suspect that it is not very current. It might be very helpful to update this using the latest AI technology to help someone like me work through over 10,000 faces! (At the current rate I am not going to get more than a few percent of people named).

9) Where does the poeple info get stored? I want to make sure that I back it up.

10) Is there a particular workflow that can be recommended as being most efficient?

System info: Windows 11, LRC 13.2.

Thanks, Adriaan

One more suggestion. I assume that when LRC does the face matching, some kind of number is generated that indicates the quality of the match. It would be very useful to be able to filter on this quality number. That way, I can focus my time on the best matches at first, extending to lower-quality matches as time permits.

...10,721 faces to go...

@Adriaan_S, it's best to put one feature request per thread.  This thread will be merged with the idea named in your subject line, so you might consider starting separate threads for each of your ideas:

"Where does the people info get stored? I want to make sure that I back it up."

It's sorted in the catalog along with all other metadata. So assuming you're backing up your catalog folder, it will get backed up.

The face regions and the names assigned to them are also stored in the photo files (non-raw) or the .xmp sidecars (raw) whenever you do Metadata > Save Metadata To File (or if you've enabled Catalog Settings > Metadata > Automatically Write Changes To XMP).
