P: f2 rename now requires tab key (custom naming)

Hello, I work for the account owner. I just want to note that on the next update, it would be incredibly helpful if in Lightroom Classic, when you press "f2" alone to rename a file, it automatically selects the file name itself. Previously, one could press f2 and immediately type or scan to rename the photo.

Right now, what is selected by default is the dropdown menu, so we have to hit f2 + tab each time. This may sound frivolous, but we take hundreds of photos each day here so it is tedious.

I can't determine which specific update made this change. I have tried downloading earlier versions from creative cloud, but they are not supported / I am unable to open them.

It would be great if the user could at least change the settings to enable automatic selection of the file name, rather than the automatic selection of the drop-down menu. Thank you.

While waiting for Adobe to change this (which could be a very long time), you might consider using a keyboard utility to define a shortcut key that sends F2 followed by Tab to LR.

- Some advanced keyboards and mice offer this ability (e.g. from Logitech).

- On Windows, there's the free, widely used, and well-supported Autohotkey utility. It's a little fussy to set up but works well.

- There are equivalent low-cost utilities on Mac, though I don't have any experience with them. If you're technically inclined and a masochist, you could use the built-in Automator app with Applescript (lots of google hits about that).
