Lightroom can be/should be a powerful partner app to In Design.  It is not!  Why?

Why can I not use Lightroom as a DAM system for managing Image files - to organize, to edit and to integrate with In Design Documents via Link with edited Image files?  There is a huge benefit to workflows to be achieved.  Presently the apps are ignorant of one another.  There is no "ecosystem" of integration that adds any value.  In fact the two apps conflict with one another.  There should be the capability to drag and drop image files from Lightrrom Classic Lightbox to an InDesign Image Frame which dynamically exports the edited file with option to reside the exported file in the original source folder or a new or existing folder that can be part of an In Design Document or in a Shadow folder hierarchy of the LR Folder hierarchy.  This is a no brainer!
