P: Lightroom area selection

Hello, I would love for Lightroom to offer the equivalent to the Photoshop "marquee" tool so that I can easily select and deselect a specific area. The reason I need this tool is to have an accurate histogram reading of the selected area.  For now I'm using the crop tool but it's very time consuming.

Thank you for your consideration!

@Bia De Oliveira

I've moved your post from Photoshop to Lightroom for you.

One of the great benefits of LrC is it's non-destructive way of processing images. Nearly all the things you do in LrC can be re-done at any time in the future. I'm not sure how your suggestion could be accomplished within the basic way LrC works. Deletions and other adjustments do not actually happen to an images, adjustments are just reflected in the on screen presentation of the previews LrC creates on import.

A crop will work for that nicely and seems to be little more effort than the marquee tool in PS. My very first action in any image in LrC is always to crop.

Exactly my point. The equivalent of a marquee tool to quickly get a reading of a specific area would be very helpful to me.

To add my two cents worth. Add a option in a mask selection to accomplish this.

too many steps for me... but it's a better option to the crop tool. Thank you!
