I don't even know where to begin on this one. It's so obvious that I really shouldn't even have to suggest it, but it came up in another thread and I realized that nobody had posted it as an actual FR.
The ability to create books and other "published" products from within Lightroom would be so incredibly useful that I think most pro photographers and a huge percentage of amateurs would want it.
Do you think Adobe should do this, or extend the SDK so 3rd parties can create new plugins which may for instance include an embedded web browser? For an example, have you seen Blurb's Bookify?
I think Bookify is great, and I'd love to see other manufacturers step in to do it, but I totally think Adobe should create a generic version too. It's really not much more than making the Print module a whole lot more functional.
I publish my cards, books, calendars, etc. at my local pro lab and they are never going to create a Lightroom plugin. I suspect that most users are the same (or they print at Costco, Wal-Mart, etc) and being able to output books to PDF or JPG using custom shapes, sizes, templates, apertures, etc, would be extremely useful. No doubt the third party Lightroom folks will then step in and create all kinds of templates and presets, but Adobe need to provide the infrastructure first.
Whether a LR Team design incorporated directly into LR ... or via plugin process ... are both fine by me ... but it is a needed utility for many users especially those in the wedding/portrait line ... the inclusion of such a module/feature/plugin will substantially solidify user support and likely increase adoption of LR by new users ... JMHO ...
