Awful Update to Lightroom Classic CC Version 7.4?

Is anyone else having awful problems with the latest Lightroom Classic CC update?

I work on 2 computers:

MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2014) High Sierra

1.7 GHz Intel Core i7

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

iMac Late 2012 High Sierra

3.1 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3

I've had to resort pretty much solely to editing on my MacBook Air because the iMac has serious problems with the update.

Examples of issues are:

- Infinite loading of images - (I upload images with Smart Previews). Have left one image for over 5 minutes and the "Loading" message remains.

- Clicking a Preset, image changes to preset, move cursor towards image, image loses preset, again and again. I have to click on another preset and then the original preset I want and sometimes this works, sometimes it keeps jumping between original image and preset

- Presets not working at all

- Freezing and having to restart

- Twice as long to HDR Merge an image

Just in general everything is SO slow compared to my last version. It makes the workload almost impossible, I can't wait 2-3 minutes for each image to load so I can begin editing.

Any news on a latest fix Adobe?

Any tips - other than reinstalling last version?

Thank you in advance.

Can you post what it says behind ‘License’ in the ‘Help - System Info’ menu?

Thanks. I just needed to see the license, to check that you are not another victim of the infamous 'upgrade bug'. That's not the problem, however. I don't have a lot suggestions at this point. Lightroom Classic 7.4 runs fine on both my Macs. One thing you could try to solve this 'loading' problem is to go to Preferences - Performance and check that 'Use Graphics Processor' is turned off.

Thanks JohanEl54. I'll turn off the Graphics Processor and see if that improves.

I'm not sure whether it's a bug that needs to be fixed or a problem with my Mac - but I suspect it could be an update issue if it is running so very slowly on both Macs compared with previous versions.

Will wait for a future update and see if anything improves.

Generally,

When you are seeing poor performance and others are not it is possibly related to a bad install. Reinstalling often makes these issues disappear.

Use the Adobe Creative Cloud App to uninstall Lightroom Classic CC 7.4

Restart your computer (important)

Without opening any other programs, use the Adobe Creative Cloud app to install Lightroom Classic CC again. (this will be from a fresh download)

If after doing this you still have worse performance than your previous version it is time to quantify exactly what tasks are slow and exactly how long they take (in seconds) to complete and how fast they were (in seconds) in a previous version.

Since upgrading to Classic cc 7.4, I can longer import images without LR crashing.  Not finding any solutions anywhere else, I tried the re-install recommendation mentioned above.  Unfortunately, it did not solve my problem.  I've got two client deadlines that I fear I'm going to miss and another looming.

I'll revert back to the previous version LR Classic CC, but should I uninstall 7.4 first?

I had issues with 7.3, which made develop module loading pictures very slow. I did not uninstall it, just installed 7.2 over 7.3 and it made the changes by itself without impacting catalog or presets in any negative way.
