Black and white conversion changes to a brown and white?

I am converting color images to black and white using the Lightroom treatment "Black and White" and it is turning a brown and white. How do I change this so it creates a real black and white image. 

 

When I take the brown and white image into Photoshop and use the black and white conversion setting, it changes it to black and white so something definitely needs to change in Lightroom. 

 

Please help.

I am in develop mode. When I try to take a screen shot of the RGB values, it changes to the above screenshot. 

 

RGB when hovering over a complete black area is 5/5/2

 

It's not a monitor issue.

You must have split toning or color grading dialed in. Looks like you defined a shadow tint.

Double clicking on the shadow in color grading will reset it to zero. If it is a curve, reset the curve to linear from the point curve popup below the curves.

Brown looking black and white is also possibly a result of a corrupt monitor profile. These are common on windows machines and affect Lightroom different than photoshop. Typically if this is your problm, also the histogram display looks brown instead of neutral grey. If this is the case, try recalibrating your display with your calibration device. If you don't own one, try going into the monitor's properties and remove any profile you see associated with the display in color management.

EDIT oops, Jao's post was "below the horizon" when I posted... 😉  Yes, this definitely sounds like a bad profile.

 

Please post a screenshot of the entire Lr Develop UI (the full screen).

 

This sounds suspiciously like a defective monitor profile. Not all parts of the Lightroom UI are color managed, but the histogram is. If the neutral gray there also has the brownish color, that confirms the profile is bad.
