If I use Lightroom now and put and manage all my images there - will I lose access to the program and the images if I later cancel my subscription to Adobe creative cloud?

Are you referring  to Lightroom Classic?

If so the Develop and Map modules will stop functioning, inaddition the Sync function with Adobe Creative Cloud will also stop.

If you are referring to Lightroom (cloud-based) application this will stop working.

Agreeing with @DdeGannes

You lose none of your work if your subscription to Lightroom Classic ends, you can still use the program (except Develop and Map Module) to export photos, or even import photos, and use all the features of the Library Module.
