Lightroom classic 7.4 works wee,

However, I cannot instal new develop presets. I have tried until I see that I need help.

I have a number of presets now but want to install LR presets from Phlearn. I cannot do it.

I wonder if I uninstalled the Classic 7.4 , reinstalled from Creative Cloud  and the tried again.

I HAVE 11,000 IMAGES WHICH I CANNOT afford to lose.

thanks,

vince

So what method are you using to install the presets?

Are the presets extracted from a .ZIP file?

Are they .XMP or .LRTEMPLATE file types?

The easiest method is to Click on the on the Preset Panel Header and select 'Import...'

You will not lose any images by re-installing Lightroom. (The catalog does not contain your images) But you have them all backed up ? Right?

Can you also post a screen-clip of your LR System Info?  LR MENU > HELP > SYSTEM INFO...

WobertC,

I have dragged to lightroom window, I have dragged to LR/../Develop presets. In this folder all files begin with ~~ and end with.lrtemplate.

In the LIBRARY/..../CAMERA/SETTINGS,  all except 4 or "XMP" files. The other 4 files are named DATA, and they were not there yesterday

I have not clicked on the PLUS icon in lightroom.

The sources of this presets .....some were ZIP files, cannot remember the others. All were downloaded from PHlearn website.

Have you any suggestions ?

THANKS MUCH for responding .

sorry about typos. or should be "are".

LIBRARY/...,/CAMERA RAW/Settings" should be at beginning  of 2nd line.

.."all except 4 or" should read all except 4 ARE XMP files

Typing  is very hard for me!

I need to know- details from System Info!  LR MENU > HELP > SYSTEM INFO...

(Select the top 10 lines and Copy & Paste into your reply)

I have dragged to lightroom window,

I do not know of this method. Where did you see this method suggested?

I have dragged to LR/../Develop presets.

This works for .LRTEMPLATE files. Have you re-booted computer?

In this folder all files begin with ~~ and end with.lrtemplate.

"~~" indicates the .lrtemplate files have been copied, converted, and installed in the {Settings} folder as .XMP files.

all except 4 ARE XMP files

So do you see all the Phlearn files in this {Settings} folder?

(those not .xmp are .dat files- ignore these)

What do you see in the Develop module Presets Panel with a raw image ?

I have dragged to the open window for some years. It has worked until now.

Yes, have rebooted many times with this problem.

No. I see only 2 PHlearn preset folders in. the...Adobe/Camera/settings folder.

With NEF files the files ar NOT opened in Camera Raw but are opened in PS.Screen Shot 2018-07-30 at 8.21.58 PM.png

Thanks so much for your efforts to help me.

Thanks for the System Info. I am confident now that your install of Lightroom is correct and not the problem.

The next step might be to contact Phlearn and seek detailed advice there.

Are the preset files .lrtemplate files or XMP files?

If they're the former, you'll need to use the Import option as WobertC mentioned. Adobe completely changed how presets work recently, so what you did in the past is no longer valid.

In the /adobe...../lightroom/.....develop presets the presets are shown as:

          "lrtemplates"

in the folder Camera Raw../settings...presets are shown as

          " XMP files "

Try removing the # from the folder name of the ones in the Lightroom/Develop Presets folder. It's breaking the conversion to the new XMP presets.
