Hey there, I am a Newbie in your community and I would like to say first Hello to everybody.

I am working with Lightroom version Number 5 and I am usually storing my original RAW and jpg files on an external Harddrive (I ve got several external hardrives) and from this harddrive I import my photos inside the Lightroom program on my laptop and edit and store the edited photos in one cataloge on my laptop. The last days, the lightroom has trouble to find my photos on the Toshiba external harddisk I am working with lately. Either if this is a laptop issue or has to do with the external harddrive that I am using since quite some time has to be checked. I am just worried now that the external harddrive might be slighly corrupted. In order to safe my original photofiles I would like to transfer them from this external harddisk to a new one. And at the same time of course connect my lightroom catalogs with the new harddrive. With other words I would like to change the location of my originalphotofiles and with them the path connected to the files inside the lightroom program. In that way my lightroom program can find without a problem the new location. Please can you help me to do that? Thanks a lot

Let me move this to the Lightroom forum for you, where you are more likely to receive an answer to your question.

The Community Help forum is for help in using the Adobe Support Community forums, not for help with specific programs. Product questions should be posted in the associated product community.

Your post encompasses two questions-

trouble to find my photos on the Toshiba external harddisk

This could be a failing Drive, or, a common problem is that external drives in windows may change Drive letter and so cause folders to go 'missing'.

I would like to transfer them from this external harddisk to a new one.

For large numbers of files and folders- 'Option Two' at this link is a favoured method by many-
