Change Preserved file name?

I have a lot of images that are out of order; due to backup restore, and have B where a _ should be in the preserved file name. How do I change the preserved file name?

There is no way to change the metadata field XMP:PreservedFileName within LR. You'll have to use the free utility Exiftool:

1. In LR, select the photos and do Metadata > Save Metadata To File.

2. Use Exiftool and command-line scripting to change the "B" back to an "_".

3. In LR, select the photos and Metadata > Read Metadata From File.
